BCWIP Releases
Download the latest BCWIP installer. Updates are pull-based — when a new version ships, come back here, download the new installer, and run it. Your data, license, and settings carry over.
Latest release — v1.4.0 (2026-07-09)
Quarter-end snapshots with a snapshot hub, a customer detail view, and a guided WIP period mode — plus reporting and reliability fixes.
How updates work
Updates are pull-based. BCWIP does not auto-update from inside the application. When a new version is available, this page is updated; you download the new installer and run it on top of your existing install.
Reinstalling preserves your data. Your QuickBooks connection, license activation, project classifications, manual inputs, and database all live in %APPDATA%\BCWip\. The installer leaves that directory untouched, so a fresh install picks up exactly where the previous version left off.
Your database is auto-backed-up before any schema migration. If a new release includes a database migration, BCWIP creates a timestamped .bak snapshot in %APPDATA%\BCWip\backups\ before applying it. If anything goes wrong, copy the most recent .bak back over the database file to recover.
Older releases
- v1.3.0 (2026-06-26) — New: let your AI assistant update WIP figures by conversation. Building on the read-only connection, the assistant can now change three fields on any project — the estimate (contract amount), hourly labor, and current time (hours) — when you ask, confirming each change before it's made. Every AI change goes live immediately and is logged in a new AI Change Log on the WIP tab, where you can review each one or undo it with one click. The assistant can only touch those three fields — it never changes anything else and never pushes to QuickBooks. Optional.
- v1.2.5 (2026-06-25) — New: Connect an AI assistant. Under Help → 'Connect an AI assistant,' link BCWIP to Claude Desktop or any MCP-compatible assistant and ask about your WIP data conversationally — current margins, over/under-billing, surety schedule, and closed jobs. Read-only (the assistant views, never changes your data) and completely optional.
- v1.2.4 (2026-06-22) — A bigger update: the CPA Report is rebuilt into clear sections (Schedule II contracts-in-progress, a reconciliation summary, backlog, projects closed in the period, and cost-plus break-even) and now scrolls as one readable page. Cost Plus gains a Total Net column and a corrected break-even total. The Management Report adds a from/to date range (with Excel/PDF export). Surety WIP shows close dates on completed projects. And project names and customer assignments now update automatically from QuickBooks when you sync.
- v1.2.3 (2026-06-21) — Surety WIP now shows the close date on completed projects, and tables across every tab scroll correctly the moment you open them — no more resizing the window to make the scrollbar appear.
- v1.2.2 (2026-06-21) — Cost Plus 'Bill Amount' now shows what's left to bill to break even — your cost minus what's already been billed — instead of a marked-up figure, so you can read the true amount needed to not lose money on a job. Target Margin stays available as the markup input; Net Profit is unchanged.
- v1.2.1 (2026-06-21) — Find-project search added to the Cost Plus, Closed Projects, Write-offs, Excluded, and Closed Excluded tabs (and it now matches customer name too, not just project name). The CPA Report and Surety WIP schedule were corrected so only current contracts appear — a closed job shows only in the period it actually closed, and cost-plus jobs are broken out into their own section instead of distorting the bonded backlog.
- v1.2.0 (2026-06-11) — WIP find + sortable columns — type-to-find jumps straight to a project (no filtering), and every column sorts with a header click (true dollar ranking, totals stay pinned). Also fixes the view date sticking after midnight, the totals row now summing exactly the rows on screen, and a relaunch hang that required ending the app in Task Manager.
- v1.1.2 (2026-06-09) — Faster, more reliable sync — fixed a freeze/hang on large project books; sync now runs in the background with progress; Closed Projects tab now supports editable Hourly Labor and a Profit Amount column.
- v1.1.1 (2026-06-08) — Frozen-columns alignment fix. The WIP schedule now pins the indicator, QB-status, Project, and Customer columns while the whole grid scrolls as one — every project name stays welded to its financial data. Supersedes 1.1.0.
